San Diego Takes Wild Card Series
The joy and relief on the faces of the San Diego Padres players was obvious as they celebrated their Wild Card Series win over the Portland Hops.

"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said San Diego first baseman Eddie Perlman, shortly after the 6-1 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."

The team is now off to the Division Championship Series.

Perlman won series MVP honors on the strength of his .400 batting average during the series. He also had a .455 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 8 runs.

The Division Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
