Cardinals Top Indians, 5-0, to Begin WCS
|
Cory Neal and the St. Louis Cardinals opened the Wild Card Series in brilliant fashion, traveling to Cleveland and shutting out the host Indians at Tecumseh Field, 5-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Neal, the Cardinals left-hander, threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball.
Neal was in the zone all game. He frustrated Cleveland hitters while giving the Cardinals 8 innings of quality work. Neal threw 97 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 4 punchouts.
"Cory made some big pitches when he needed to," said Cardinals manager Zachary Norat.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, October 11th , 2063.
