Pittsburgh Hands Toronto 4-1 Loss
|
With starter Sancho Ortega leading the charge, the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. The left-hander threw 5.0 innings of 2-hit ball at Rogers Centre to help Pittsburgh take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Pittsburgh used the hitting of Toby Wheeler to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Pirates on top, 2-0. For the game, Wheeler had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Pirates manager Aaron Calderon, "I like our chances."
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Best Buy Ballpark.
