Diamondbacks Hammered by Dieter, Drop Game 3 to Cubs
Riding the 2-hit performance of shortstop Steve Dieter, the Chicago Cubs stopped the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks, 13-9, in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series. Dieter went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Cubs, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 1.

A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Dieter hit a fastball from Dilan Lee for a 3-run home run, putting Chicago up, 9-5.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Dieter, "one at-bat at a time."
