Cubs Clip Yankees, 2-1, in DCS Contest
|
Richard Neal pitched a gem to help the Chicago Cubs escape with a tight, 2-1 victory over the New York Yankees in a low-scoring Division Championship Series contest. The left-handed Neal threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Cubs on a day when their offense dried up. Chicago now leads the best-of-7 series 2-1.
Neal, a native of Spring Valley, Nevada, was dealing all game. He kept New York hitters off-balance, while giving the Cubs 8 quality innings. Neal threw 108 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 6.
"Richard was good -- real good," said Cubs manager Lorenzo Benitez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tuesday, October 26th , 2060.
