Pensacola Breaks Through for First Win in Regional Championship Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Corpus Christi Hooks, winning, 5-4, at Rebels Ballpark. Blue Wahoos catcher Louie Schleif was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Blue Wahoos to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.
A key moment came with two out in the bottom of the third. That's when Schleif hit a fastball from Keven Aguayo for a bases-clearing double, putting Pensacola up, 4-0.
"We're happy," Schleif told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Rebels Ballpark in Pensacola.
