The Glendale Gauchos powered past the hometown Gilbert Geckos, 3-2, in the opener of the Regional Championship Series at Camelback Ranch today. Glendale starting pitcher Rhino Robinson threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Gauchos now lead the series 1-0.

Lemarcus Bowman aided the Glendale cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the catcher was 2-5 with 2 singles.

Geckos manager Jason Blahut did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the R Championship Series."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Camelback Ranch in Gilbert.
