Harlan Wins Game 4 in Extras; On Verge of RCS
|
As the Harlan Smokies and Kinston Indians battled through extra innings, it was a rookie who made the difference.
Young Harlan third baseman Enrico Valencia, 21 led the way with a strong hitting performance in the 12-inning marathon. Valencia belted 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 during the 6-4 Harlan win over the Indians. The win gives the Smokies a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Had Valencia not come through in the top of the 12th, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Valencia hit a 2-run home run. The Smokies took the lead, 6-4, and never looked back.
"Feels good to get the job done," Valencia said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Kinston in Kinston.
