Mountaineers Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
|
Already in trouble in the Divisional Series, the Hampton Orioles knew they needed a strong outing from their starter and good production on offense. They got one of the two.
The Orioles failed to put much together on offense and wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from left-handed starter Marcio Ramírez, falling, 4-0, to the Erwin Mountaineers at Hampton Stadium. The loss put the Orioles in an even deeper hole -- they now trail Erwin 3-0.
Rascoe Wilcox had a direct impact on the outcome. Wilcox contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Erwin up, 2-0.
"I don't care a whit about getting a sweep," Wilcox said. "The only part of it that matters to me is it means we've got a lot of chances to get that last win."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hampton Stadium in Hampton.
