Spikes, Ironbirds Play 10 to Settle Game 1, State College Now Leads Series 1-0
|
When the games really matter, the State College Spikes put on their best show, beating the Aberdeen Ironbirds by a final score of 7-5. Colton Park went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. State College now leads Aberdeen 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
State College relied on the bat of Garey McClendon to get the win. The third baseman ripped a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Spikes ahead, 7-5. For the game, McClendon had 1 double and 1 triple in 4 at-bats.
"I just tried to make good contact," said McClendon.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen.
