Regional Championship Series Game 1 Goes to Great Lakes, Thanks to Gurrola
The Great Lakes Loons powered past the visiting Westside Woolly Mammoths, 3-2, in the opener of the Regional Championship Series at Dow Diamond. Great Lakes third baseman Elías Gurrola was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, to lead the charge. The Loons now lead the series 1-0.

With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the seventh, Gurrola had a key at-bat for Great Lakes. With a runner on 2nd, Gurrola hit a 2-run home run off Kyle Lipschultz, making the score 3-1, Loons.

Gurrola called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dow Diamond in Midland.
