Almost There: Charlotte On Cusp of DS Triumph After 8-2 Win

The Charlotte Stone Crabs moved to within one game of the Regional Championship Series, downing the Tampa Tarpons on the road at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark by a score of 8-2. Stone Crabs right-hander Rylan Mace had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Stone Crabs a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Tied up with the Tarpons in the top of the fifth inning, the Stone Crabs got a boost from center fielder Howard Burns. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Burns saw a first pitch fastball from Asher Dixon and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Charlotte on top, 3-2.
"It feels good to get this one," Burns told the Charlotte Observer.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark in Tampa.
