Austin Mitchell had an impact in the 6-3 Houston win over Boston. The 27-year old left fielder went 3-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Houston pitcher Jason Phillips got the win, upping his record to 2-1. Dylan Lafferty got the loss. Stephen Sterling picked up the save for Houston, his 3rd of the year.

Houston took a 6-3 lead on Bill Thyfault's 13th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Thyfault hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Boston pitcher Dylan Lafferty shaking his head.

In postgame comments to the Houston Observer, Thyfault said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

With the win, Houston goes to 32-34, while the Red Sox fall to 23-43.
