Rumble Ponies Hammered by Mitchell, Drop Game 2 to RubberDucks
|
The Akron RubberDucks evened the Divisional Series on a 10th inning walk-off at Canal Park. Young center fielder Ryder Mitchell, 23 led the way in the 4-3 win over the visiting Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Mitchell went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once in the contest. With the RubberDucks win, the best-of-7 series is tied at 1-1.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With two out, Mitchell hit a fastball from Yacinto Vargas for a run-scoring single. The RubberDucks, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Damon Cordero, the Akron skipper. "This one tested us."
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 6th , 2067 at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton.
