Manatees Advance to R Championship Series
Coral Springs center fielder Todd Anchondo couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Regional Championship Series.

"It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Anchondo moments after his club eliminated the Hollywood Spoonbills to advance to the R Championship Series.

Coral Springs won the final game by a score of 10-7 at Roger Dean Stadium and took the series 4-1.

"We won the series and that's the main thing," Anchondo said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted."

For the series, Anchondo hit .409 with a .458 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 4 runs.

"He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Hollywood manager Francisco Solis.

The R Championship Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Regional Championship Series finishes.
