Shreveport Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-1
|
The Shreveport Engineers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Corpus Christi Hooks, winning, 4-1, at Engineers Ballpark. Engineers left-hander Elijah Jereb threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Engineers to 3-1 in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
Benjamin Wenster was a prime contributor to the Shreveport win. He was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second with no one out, the 26-year old left fielder hit a 2-run home run. It made the score 2-0, in favor of the Engineers.
Wenster told a Shreveport Daily News reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Engineers Ballpark in Shreveport.
