Hooks Rally Past Engineers to Claim 2-0 Series Lead
A big day on the mound from right-hander Zully Salazar was not enough to keep the Corpus Christi Hooks from opening up a healthy early lead in the Divisional Series. The Hooks topped Salazar and the Shreveport Engineers, 4-3, at Whataburger Field in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. Salazar threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball in the loss.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jacob Sanches in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Hovekamp to win the game for Corpus Christi. The home crowd went nuts.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Sanches said.

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, September 27th , 2063 at Engineers Ballpark in Shreveport.
