Catfish Even With BlueClaws After Extra-Innings Win
|
The Columbus Catfish got a strong game from starter Chance Ortmeyer, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Catfish took the 3-2 win over the Lakewood BlueClaws in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series in a 11th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Ortmeyer. Ortmeyer threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs in the win, which brought the Catfish into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Columbus got a game-changing hit from Dylan Greer. The first baseman blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a winner.
"It's true for every sport, I think, but the playoffs are so short that you've just got to get in and get hot," Columbus manager Francisco Avalos told BNN after the win. "We took care of the first part and now we're just working on the second."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 19th , 2061 at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta.
