Almost There: Fort Wayne On Cusp of WCS Triumph After 8-4 Win
|
The Fort Wayne TinCaps moved to within one game of the Divisional Series, downing the visiting Westside Woolly Mammoths at Parkview Field by a score of 8-4. TinCaps second baseman Célio Prieto did some major damage. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The win gives the TinCaps a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
In the bottom of the fifth, Horace Bartee delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Fort Wayne right fielder hit a 3-run home run, putting the TinCaps in front, 8-4.
Fort Wayne manager Nathan Halker commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Parkview Field in Ft. Wayne.
