The Columbus Catfish relied on the hitting of catcher Mark Hijiri to get by the Lakewood BlueClaws, 6-3, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. For the game, Hijiri went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The clubs are now tied, 1-1.

There was more than one reason the Catfish beat the BlueClaws, but Hijiri's big at-bat in the top of the second was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Columbus manager Francisco Avalos.
