Chattanooga Breaks Through for First Win in Divisional Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Chattanooga Scouts got a strong game from starter Rick Fyock, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Scouts took the 4-3 win over the Arkansas Travelers in Game 3 of the Divisional Series in a 10th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Fyock. Fyock threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball in the win, which allowed the Scouts to narrow their deficit to 1-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Batting in the bottom of the tenth, 26-year old third baseman Billy Lamica had a real shot to win the game. Arkansas pitcher Jason McCafferty was determined not to let it happen. But with no outs, Lamica hit a run-scoring single. The Scouts had a walk-off triumph.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Fyock said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at AT&T Field in Chattanooga.
