Almost There: San Bernardino On Cusp of WCS Triumph After 9-7 Win
|
Despite a great performance by Bakersfield first baseman Manuel Cantu, the San Bernardino Stampede defeated the Blaze by the score of 9-7 at Grainger Stadium. Cantu was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4, but he could not prevent the Stampede from moving one game closer to the Divisional Series. San Bernardino now leads the Wild Card Series 3-1.
Jackson McKinstry took Bakersfield hurler Mike Hankerson deep in the bottom of the first. His 3-run home run put the Stampede on top, 5-2. In all, McKinstry had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said McKinstry. "And not try to do too much."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Grainger Stadium in San Bernardino.
