Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Mavericks, 4-3
The High Desert Mavericks nearly wasted a strong game from starter Riley Ridenour, but were saved by some timely hitting in a 15th inning walk-off win over the Martinez Clippers today.

Ridenour pitched well in the 4-3 win at Mavericks Stadium. He threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The win allowed High Desert to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.

The clutch hit was provided by Kyle Bonner. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Gregorio Muñoz in the bottom of the 15th.

"I hate extra innings," High Desert manager D.J. Schultheis said. "It makes everyone more tired, wears out the bullpen, wears out the fans. Even winning doesn't make me feel good about it."

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Recreation Park in Martinez.
