The Somerset Patriots started the Wild Card Series in style, downing the visiting Yonkers Dark Knights at Arm & Hammer Park by a score of 6-4 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Patriots catcher Andrew Baldwin went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

The game was at a stalemate until pinch hitter Baltasar Mauricio came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Yonkers pitcher Richard Riechmann, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Somerset on top, 6-4.

Somerset manager Alex Chavez praised his team's "energy."
