Lobsters Even With Muckdogs After Extra-Innings Win
|
The Maine Lobsters went the distance and then some at Dwyer Stadium to drag themselves back into a tie with the Batavia Muckdogs.
It took 12 innings to settle Game 2 of the Wild Card Series, but Maine eventually took the 4-3 win despite the performance of Batavia pitcher Perry Mooney, who threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-7 series.
Maine used the timely hitting of Scott Richards to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Lobsters on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Richards attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 10th , 2059 at Portland Ballpark in Portland.
