Lancaster Hands Wichita 7-2 Loss
|
The Lancaster Barnstormers got a strong performance from pitcher Pogey Brice, who stymied the visiting Wichita Pilots en route to a win, 7-2, in Game 2 of the Wild Card Series. The Pilots could never get a bead on the right-handed Brice, who threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The Barnstormers now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Lindsey Mansur came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Wichita pitcher A.J. Vargas, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Lancaster on top, 3-1.
"I'm happy we won," said Brice. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 28th , 2065 at Regions Field in Wichita.
