Road Win Lifts Bowling Green to 1-0 Lead in WCS

Bowling Green Hot Rods manager Oscar Cornejo knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.
Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 23-year-old right-hander Yanly Concepcion silenced the host Greensboro Grasshoppers at NewBridge Bank Park today. The Hot Rods shut out the Grasshoppers by a final score of 4-0, to give the Hot Rods a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
The Grasshoppers had trouble solving Concepcion, who surrendered no runs on 6 hits over 7 innings.
"At least it was over quickly," Grasshoppers manager Bryce Scott said. "We'll just have to try our luck again."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro.
