Hixenbaugh Excels, New Orleans Wins Wild Card Series Game 1
The New Orleans Baby Cakes started the Wild Card Series in dominant fashion, blowing out the visiting Iowa Cubs at Zephyr Field by a score of 15-1 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Baby Cakes right fielder Wyatt Hixenbaugh had a standout performance. He was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3.

Joaquin Genao hit a 2-run double off Jack Smitherman in the bottom of the second, which put the Baby Cakes in front, 2-0. In addition to the double, Genao had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Iowa manager Tony Osorio. "They pounded us."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Zephyr Field in New Orleans.
