Durham Takes Wild Card Series in Deciding Game
|
The fans in Durham are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Buffalo.
The Durham Bulls finished off the Buffalo Bisons 6-1 in the deciding game of the Wild Card Series played at Coca-Cola Field.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Divisional Series.
For his standout play, Durham first baseman D.J. Zimmerman was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .355, drove in 8 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Zimmerman and that doomed us," said Bisons manager Rich Hernandez. "Hats off to Durham, though. That was a great series."
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
