Birmingham Breaks Through for First Win in Wild Card Series; Now Trails 2-1
Already down in the Wild Card Series, the Birmingham Barons put on their best show, beating the Durham Bulls by a final score of 2-1. J.J. Richardson was special. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Birmingham now trails Durham 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.

Birmingham used a timely hit from Tim Peters to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Barons ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

Peters attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham.
