Regional Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Yurcak and Buffalo
|
Their bats were silent and Buffalo had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Bisons struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 24-year-old starter Jeremiah Yurcak. The right-hander quieted the Birmingham Barons at Coca-Cola Field to help Buffalo take the 2-0 decision and seize a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.
The outcome was still in doubt in the top of the ninth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Birmingham trailing 2-0, Nicholas Holloway needed to get a big out. On a 2-0 sinker, Elijah Vanderpool lined out, putting the kibosh on a potential rally.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo.
