Syracuse Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in WCS
When he got to Syracuse, Nick Hartman was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Wild Card Series.

The 22-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Rochester Norsemen, 3-0, in a remarkable performance at Victory Field. With the win, the Chiefs took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

Hartman gave Syracuse a solid start. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Syracuse manager Abe Blowers said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Victory Field in Syracuse.
