Dragons Hammered by Filippini, Drop Game 2 to Lugnuts
|
The Lansing Lugnuts knotted up the Wild Card Series at Cooley Law School Stadium, thanks in large part to second baseman Miguel Filippini. Filippini was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs as he overpowered the Dayton Dragons, enabling Lansing to grab the 5-4 win and move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-7 series.
With no one out in the bottom of the eighth, Chuck Fitzhugh barreled up a cutter from Jesse Johnson. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Lugnuts in front, 5-1.
Lansing manager Mike Pascarella commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at Fifth Third Field in Dayton.
