Pilots Win Wild Card Series
The fans in Wichita are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Akron.

The Wichita Pilots finished off the Akron RubberDucks 2-1 in the deciding game of the Wild Card Series played at Canal Park.

They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Divisional Series.

For his standout play, Wichita second baseman Kenny Merola was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.

He batted .458, drove in 3 runs and scored 6 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Merola and that doomed us," said RubberDucks manager Damon Cordero. "Hats off to Wichita, though. That was a great series."

The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
