Woodby Blasts Silverados, Giants Take Game 4, 4-1
|
San Jose Giants manager Leon Becerra wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.
In front of a supportive hometown crowd today, 23-year-old left fielder Sean Woodby humbled the visiting Napa Silverados at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Woodby slugged 3 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored three times as the Giants shut out the Silverados by a final score of 4-1, to force a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 Regional Championship Series.
The Giants took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Facing Napa hurler Honesto Rodríguez with two outs, Woodby hit a 2-run home run.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Napa manager Jorge Leston.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Jose Municipal Stadium in San Jose.
