Oxford Breaks Through for First Win in Wild Card Series; Now Trails 2-1
|
The Oxford Owls got a strong game from starter Verne Craft, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Owls took the 4-3 win over the Hudson Valley Renegades in Game 3 of the Wild Card Series in a 10th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Craft. Craft threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Owls to narrow their deficit to 1-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Oxford got a knockout punch from Noah Robin. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Craft.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Oxford in Oxford.
