Hawks Hammered by Ritchie, Drop Game 6 to Spartans
|
The Olympia Spartans and the Boise Hawks will take the Divisional Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Spartans beat the Hawks, 8-5, at Ballpark of Victoria to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Olympia designated hitter Winston Ritchie was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
Tied up with the Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Spartans got a boost from left fielder Wilton Ryan. With the bases loaded, Ryan saw a 2-1 curveball from Ryder Gray and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Olympia on top, 6-4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Olympia manager Jim Todd.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Victoria in Olympia.
