Buffalo Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Their bats were silent and Buffalo had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Bisons struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 25-year-old starter Jeremiah Black. The right-hander quieted the Rochester Norsemen at Coca-Cola Field to help Buffalo take the 3-2 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Bisons had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the sixth, when catcher Matthew Questad hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Lon Denate and made the score 3-2, Bisons. Questad went 1 for 4.
"I liked his command," said Buffalo manager Rich Hernandez. "Jeremiah was throwing strikes."
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 17th , 2063 at Frontier Field in Rochester.
