Clippers Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Divisional Series
|
The Martinez Clippers are one game away from a sweep of the Napa Silverados after a road win at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, 3-1. Clippers left-hander Zach Fuentes had a strong outing. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. Martinez now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Yibrahim Chaves? The Martinez catcher had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Clippers on top, 2-0. For the game, Chaves had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Clippers manager Josiah Gordon, "I like our chances."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in Napa.
