West Virginia Wins Again, 3-1
|
A strong performance from pitcher Bronson Mathias was not enough for the Hamilton Red Wings, who were stopped by the visiting West Virginia Black Bears, 3-1, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. The Black Bears never truly figured out the right-handed Mathias, who threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball. Still, the Black Bears now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.
Had Nickenson Baal not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Baal hit a 2-run home run. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Black Bears.
"We haven't stopped playing," Hamilton manager Jordan Attwood said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 16th , 2062 at Red Wings Ballpark in Hamilton.
