Ahwatukee Tops Yuma Again, 5-2
The Ahwatukee Roughnecks moved to within one game of the Divisional Series, downing the Yuma Gnomes on the road at Tempe Diablo Stadium by a score of 5-2. Roughnecks left-hander Jody Williams had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win gives the Roughnecks a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Wild Card Series.

Ahwatukee used a clutch at-bat from Mel Jean to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Roughnecks ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Jody was throwing strikes, locating well," said Ahwatukee manager Ray Badgerow.

The next game is set to be played for Wednesday, September 8th , 2060 at Roughnecks Ballpark in Phoenix.
