Chiefs Even With Stampede After Walk-Off Win
|
The Cheyenne Chiefs nearly wasted a strong game from starter Michael Peterson, but were saved by some timely hitting in a walk-off win over the Medicine Hat Stampede.
Peterson threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win allowed Cheyenne to force a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
The decisive blow was delivered by Izan Aguirre in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Gabriel Wharton to win the game for Cheyenne. The home crowd went nuts.
Aguirre attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Cheyenne in Cheyenne.
