Gauchos Hammered by Mathews, Drop Game 4 to Roughnecks
The Ahwatukee Roughnecks and the Glendale Gauchos will take the Wild Card Series to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation, the Roughnecks beat the Gauchos, 5-2, at Roughnecks Ballpark to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Ahwatukee pinch hitter Victor Mathews went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

Norman Chaney dealt the Gauchos a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Ahwatukee leading 3-2, Chaney hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.

"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Mathews.

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, September 10th , 2061 at Maryvale Baseball Park in Glendale.
