Ahwatukee Breaks Through for First Win in Wild Card Series; Now Trails 2-1
Already down in the Wild Card Series, the Ahwatukee Roughnecks put on their best show, beating the Glendale Gauchos by a final score of 9-8. Yoakim Cortez was special. He was 4-4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ahwatukee now trails Glendale 2-1 in the best-of-5 affair.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Ahwatukee. That's when Diego Araujo hit a solo home run off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Florencio Cabanes to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"It's a big deal," Cortez said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roughnecks Ballpark in Phoenix.
