Arkansas Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
|
Their bats were silent and Arkansas had a rookie on the mound. No problem.
On a day when the Travelers struggled to string together much offense, the club got a big boost from 24-year-old starter Patrick Napier. The left-hander quieted the St. Petersburg Flying Squirrels at Dickey-Stephens Park to help Arkansas take the 3-2 decision and seize a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
The Flying Squirrels had few good swings against Napier, the left-hander, who threw 93 pitches over 8 innings. He allowed just 2 runs on 2 hits.
"We have been clicking right from the start of this series, so our mission statement at the moment is just don't tinker with anything," Arkansas manager Brian Iocco told reporters.
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 9th , 2052 at The Diamond in St. Petersburg.
