Grand Junction Rockies manager Mike Casanas knew it was a gamble to give the start to rookie Friar Blummer. It was a good gamble to take.

Pitching in front of a supportive hometown crowd, the 21-year-old right-hander silenced the visiting Great Falls Voyagers at Suplizio Field. The Rockies shut out the Voyagers by a final score of 2-0, to give the Rockies a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.

The Voyagers had trouble solving Blummer, who surrendered no runs on 1 hit over 6.1 innings.

"We've got a great group of guys," Blummer said, "and we're having fun right now."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction.
