Fayetteville Wins Wild Card Series
|
The Fayetteville Frogs didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Blue Ridge Bulldogs in the Wild Card Series tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 3-0 win moving the club on to the Divisional Series, clinching a 4-1 series win in front of the Fayetteville Grounds crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a R+ Championship Series, so it's an important step," said Eric Stewart as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Stewart was named series MVP, as he hit .421 with a .421 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 5 RBI and scored 4 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Bulldogs sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Fayetteville celebrate.
The Divisional Series matchups and schedule will be announced after the Wild Card Series finishes.
