The Midland RockHounds powered past the hometown Shreveport Engineers, 3-2, in the opener of the Wild Card Series at Engineers Ballpark today. Midland starting pitcher B.J. Schutter threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball, to lead the charge. The RockHounds now lead the series 1-0.

Schutter delivered a quality start for Midland. The 6' 1" right-hander allowed no earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings of work.

"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Schutter, cracking a smile.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Engineers Ballpark in Shreveport.
