Tacoma Hands Albuquerque 6-0 Loss
|
When he got to Tacoma, Dax Russell was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Wild Card Series.
The 23-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the visiting Albuquerque Isotopes, 6-0, in a remarkable performance at Cheney Stadium. With the win, the Rainiers took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 Wild Card Series.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Harrison Tappan barreled up a fastball from Peter McKinney. The result was a 3-run home run, putting the Rainiers in front, 6-0.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Tacoma Rainiers (probably) 2058 AAA Championship Series Champions'," Tappan told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
The next game is set to be played for Monday, September 9th , 2058 at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque.
