Spartans Hammered by Montero, Drop Game 1 to Hawks
With shortstop Bermúdez Montero leading the charge, the Boise Hawks got a road win over the Olympia Spartans, 4-1, in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series. Montero went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs at Ballpark of Victoria to help Boise take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Making an impact for Boise was first baseman Michael Cobian. He drilled a triple off Harvey Campbell in the top of the fourth. For the game, Cobian went 1-4 with a triple.

"Whatever it takes to win," said Cobian. "That's our attitude."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Victoria in Olympia.
