Hanson, Birmingham Open RCS Strong with 6-4 Win
|
The Birmingham Barons started the Regional Championship Series in style, downing the visiting Syracuse Chiefs at Raley Field by a score of 6-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Barons right-hander Braylon Hanson threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball.
Though he didn't earn the victory, Hanson kept his team in the game until the bullpen took over and the Birmingham offense came through. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 hits and 1 run, while striking out 5.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Hanson said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Raley Field in Birmingham.
